Locating Your Computer's Name
- The following steps will assist you in finding your Computer Name in Windows 10.
On your keyboard, press the Win Key and r at the same time to bring up the Run Dialog Box.
- On your keyboard, press the Win Key and r at the same time to bring up the Run Dialog Box.
- In the window the window that appears on the bottom-left hand corner of your screen, type in cmd and click OK.
- The command prompt window will appear. In this window, type hostname and press Enter.
- The name of your computer will be displayed.

Use Search
Use the Start menu, and search for computer name. Click View your PC name from the results and look next to Device name.
Use Settings
Press Windows key + I to open Settings. Click System > About and look next to Device name.

The following instructions will assist you in finding the hostname of your Apple Computer:
From the Apple Desktop, click on the Apple Logo in the top-left hand corner of the screen and select System Preferences…
- From the Apple Desktop, click on the Apple Logo in the top-left hand corner of the screen and select System Preferences…
- From the System Preferences menu, double click on the Sharing icon.
- You'll find your Mac's hostname (ex: Johns-iMac-Pro.local) right under Computer Name.
